Many of us begin arriving in the Grande Ronde Valley. This would be a great day to congregate and visit at Tim and Jen’s. Tim serving dinner, Jen providing garden tours, etc. Depending on people’s timing, this is also a great day to see the two ranches in Union. Adri’s house, Barbara and Duane’s house, Brenna’s art, horses, etc.
Jen and Tim become very busy with parental activities. Patty and Pam have been hijacked into helping Jen for a few hours with flower arrangements. Kelsey, Jen’s brother, will be baking seven, Welch family recipe, sheet cakes at Barbara and Duane’s. Our house is available, most of the day, for volunteers and visiting. But we will be pretty busy. The rehearsal dinner is in Cove Friday evening. So the house will be No Occupancy during that time (from 4pm on). A great place to eat in La Grande is Side A brewing. There is always the Cove Tavern. LG Brewski’s in Union is a small tavern with decent food. And we will have grills and coolers and camp kitchen at the Cove pool.
Possible things to do and places to see: Barbara and Duane’s (Hutchinson ranch, Jen’s growing up house), Cove warm springs swimming pool and park (5 minutes from T & J’s), Hot Lake Resort and Ladd Marsh (20 minutes from Cove), Wallowa Lake (2 hrs from Cove), Oregon Trail Interpretive center (1 hr from Cove), Buffalo Peak golf course (in Union).
Jen and Tim helping with many things beginning at 7am, Tyler ranch in Union.
Our house is reserved for salad makers and other volunteer peeps.
Barbara and Duane’s house is reserved for the bridal party.
The wedding has a 5:30pm start time. So there is plenty of time to hang at the Cove pool or sight see around the valley.
Adri and Nick get married!!!!!! The ceremony is in a hay field. Literally. Stiletto heels are not recommended. Dress code: good sensible shoes, comfortable but nice clothing (jacket and tie are not required), many people will be in ranch/cowboy clothing (could be your chance to get your inner cowboy/cowgirl on), Tim is wearing blue jeans and dress shirt. The reception is under a tent and in a barn. Dinner and dancing. It gets cool most evenings so bring a jacket. The wind blows pretty much all day every day (hence the windmills) so fancy hairdos are risky.
Great day for hanging out, visiting, congregating, seeing the sites. Jen and Tim’s (the park at Casa Alma Redonda de las Flores) open for business, admission at the gate, :). Cove Pool for swimming and hanging, Catherine Creek State Park is close and a great place to hang as well.
